You see, i'm not the typical type of person to have a resolution every new year.
But I feel that for some reasons, I need to reboot myself and have a resolution for this coming 2014.
I really don't know if I can keep up but i'm hoping that I would somehow fulfill even just one or two with this first (serious) resolution.

1. Family comes first.
Ever since my Dad died earlier this year (2013), I have been aloof with my family, especially with my mom. I guess this is my way of coping up, to be alone. I didn't think twice leaving her like that because I knew my Tita  and my Nieces/Nephew will be there to accompany her especially when she gets lonely. But as the spirit of holiday starts, it was reminded to me that my family must always comes first. Not the lovelife, not the career, not the material things... FAMILY comes first. So this coming new year, I swear upon my life to put them first in my list. Although i'm pretty sure there would be couple of moments when we would argue and fight, but that's normal. Even if we do fight, deep inside I would still love them no matter what. And if some certain people would not be happy with  my family, then I guess that some certain people must be out of my life as well. Family is everything to me and if someone doesn't appreciate their value in my life then I guess it will be a reason to say goodbye.

2. Say goodbye to N-E-G-A-T-I-V-I-T-Y
Prior to our weekly bible study, I was a pessimist. I always look into things negatively. But since I started the School of Word, I became an optimist. I'm willing to broaden it this new year, and I'm excited to see what would happen if I did it.

3. Lose "some" weight (I'm dead serious)
Yes. This time, i'm pretty serious. Although, hindi naman ako sobrang sobrang katabaan, in this society, i'm still fat. You all know that this blog originated for "plus sizes" like me, to encourage to love the curves.. but sometimes when people really mocked you even if its just a joke, you would still be hurt. Me? I've had enough of the hurt already. There were certain people who unknowingly hurt me because they were subliminally telling me that i'm fat. It hurts because they are special to me and I don't want them to dislike me because I am fat. The thing is, I did gain weight, but in a span of a month, I did, also lost that weight. Okay honestly, the fattest of me was 185lbs., and just yesterday, I'm now 173.2lbs (including the noche buena). I've been struggling with it but the result is wonderful. My only problem is to love myself a little bit more.

4. Love myself... a little bit more.
I admit it, I have a problem with love, especially with loving myself. It all stared when puberty hits me. 10 years ago, I didn't care how I look because most of the time there were others to fix me since I was in a competing realm of ballroom. Casually, I was a mess. I don't do fashion to myself because I'm not confident with myself, even though virtually I would love putting up outfits in every possible way. I tend to be "emo", slitting cuts all over me etc etc. Also, there was a time when I give love to others more than I give love to myself. Now, even buying things for myself wouldn't make me genuinely happy. I really don't know how to start this, but I promise myself that I would try and make it happen.

5. Have a bucket-list
It has been explained to me that having a bucket-list is a thing now! Therefore, I will try and finish writing my first ten bucketlist before the year ends and I hope that I would expand this list for me to enjoy and have fun.

and lastly...

6. Be a ray of sunshine
I wanted to everyone around me to be happy, that is what I lived for. I wanted them to feel that I will always be there whenever they needed to smile and be happy. I wanted people to be happy, but I don't want them to make fun of me! I wanted to inspire people because seeing their happy faces helps me to be happy as well and it washes away all the negativity I have.

I had a pretty rough year this year but I still thank the Lord with all of the blessing He gave to me. I'm looking forward this 2014 with a smile on my face and a big trust of my faith!

There you have it! If you, my readers, have a sincere new year's resolution, I would love to hear it from you!
I hope you've had the best Christmas and I hope you'll have a blast (not finger blasting type) this New Year's Eve!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

DECEMBER! 'Tis the season to be jolly... for some. But for me, 'tis the season to be sick. lol
After a month of taking good care of my voice for the November auditions, I kinda loosen up too much that I suffered crazy sore throat, tonsillitis infection and a massive fever for almost a week. Glad that I'm okay now, perfect timing for some Christmas errands!

This weekend was jam-packed with two Christmas Parties and a birthday celebration of a friend. There goes eating lots and lots of foods and getting drunk/tipsy. I'm not on a diet, not anymore. I figured out that i'm not gonna go crazy on dieting because I love my curves and I've had my fair share of being skinny back then (and I didn't like it) although I promise myself to lose some of my tummy and arm fats, yun lang okay na ako.

For me, this weekend is a crazy errand. Friday night was bible study night + our group's xmas party that ended almost midnight. Saturday night was the birthday celebration of my BF's friend in Cable Car. Dun ako na ishtress. Super daming tao and the people seems to want to pick up a fight by "accidentally" bumping me hard that would cost me to fall down. Good thing I keep my head up high and did not go down on her/his level. Plus it's so hot and the room itself is small, not recommended for maarte/picky people like me. Although I liked their bar area, it gives a "pub" feeling, like I was in Europe all over again. The hassle thing about it was to go wake up very early the next day for the Verbum Dei Xmas party (Sunday). Good thing were able to make it on time, and had a blast... eating our hangover out.

Anyway, I still haven't had the time to buy gifts so i'm not sure of what is ahead of me when I enter the mall or any shopping center. I also need to rest because it might be the only day to do so since we'll be having another all-nighter this coming weekend, a bible study at night + a wedding to attend to the next day outside the metro (I'm excited for this too!)

Hence, I shall now rest my ass off. Tomorrow is another day.

House of Hades (Book Review)

Hello readers! Hello December! It's the most wonderful time of the year and I hope everyone is glee-ful this month! (Or else Santa would be upset!)
Anyway, this post is the mandatory post from fatmumslim's 50 things to blog about. I'm gonna write (try) a book review to the latest book that I read. If it's okay with you, please bear with me because i'm really really sick at this moment so i'll make it short but sweet.

House of Hades by Rick Riordan
It is the fourth installation of the series "the Heroes of Olympus". I've been addicted to this series and to the other series that are also incorporated like the Kane Chronicles and the first one, Percy Jackson and the Olympians. It started having Percy and Annabeth in Tartarus, which is the conclusion from the Mark of Athena (Book 3). Spoiler Alert: They did get out with a help from a titan. Which leads us to the next book, NEXT YEAR!

I must say, I enjoyed the whirlwind of this book. The coupling of Leo, Hazel and Frank is a mess but i'm impressed that Rick cleared it out in this book. When it comes to Jason and Piper, I didn't find appealing, although I believe that in the next book, they will be facing more heavy problems. Perhaps, Reyna? Ooooh! I sense a cat fight soon! Haha kidding aside, I can sense that there was a dark past between Jason and Reyna that might make a mark on his relationship with Piper. And of course, Coach Hedge. He's very witty but I feel like he's some sort of a glue that held them all together, especially when P&A are in Tartarus.

The entire book is like on steroids. There is so much going on with just one book. The relationship drama, the revelations, the fighting, the massive destruction of the land, the crazy things happening under. It's like an explosive device that are waiting for us to finish and regenerate for the next book. This explosive book is really a hook but it is too much for my heart. Haha! Anyway, I cannot wait for "The Blood of Olympus" which is the 5th book, to be released!

I got the book on my birthday, from my ever loving boyfriend. :"") He knows it. *wink*

Helloooo people! How have you been? My country was devastated with the strongest typhoon Yolanda, and we are doing our best to recover from it. So if any of you wanted to help, donate, volunteer or anything, please do seek the websites/accounts of our government and other celebrities who are also vonlunteering themselves to help our kababayan. (but ofcourse, you should do that later after my blog. haha don't worry it won't be that long!)

Anyway, we took this outfit a week before Yolanda strike us. My boyfriend and I had lunch date and had to do some errands along the way so I asked him to take a time for this. I don't know about you guys, but I love lunch dates for than dinner dates. I've opted a casual look because I wanted to let go of the belts, and uneasy clothes of mine... for now. ;)

Oh yeah, I recently bought this bag as a birthday gift for myself! It's sooo pretty and I really love it!

This will be a quick one!
As some of you might know, I celebrated my 20th birthday last Oct. 20 and to tell you honestly, after that I've been kinda lost in touch with everything. So I may need to have a setback first, to pull myself through.

Hello October! For those of you who didn't know, its my birth month! But for some reasons, I don't feel like celebrating it nor being happy about it. In fact, when people asked me what will I do on my birthday, I always say that I will rest, and hibernate for the day just because I don't feel like celebrating + I don't wanna waste money on the food that i'm going to regret after. Who knows? Maybe I am just waiting for a surprise party? *coughs*

Back to the outfit post. I wanted to leave my "teen" years gracefully and fresh, so I opted to cut my hair last September which is a good move since I feel that my long butt-level hair is not healthy anymore. Also, I am forcing myself for a color therapy. I've been sporting a "pink" outfit for the past weeks because I always feel young (not Megan Young young though) when I wear any shade of pink.

FAQs about Charmed Haute

Hello readers! How are you? September has been kind to me, and i'm glad of it. Also, I must apologize if I didn't post outfit shots because there are times when I thought my pictures weren't "blog-worthy" enough, because of the technicalities, resolutions and such. Who knows? Maybe my weird mind would want to post those pictures some other time. lol.

Anyway, I've come to an agreement that every month, I would have a blog post from fatmumslim's 50 things to blog about. I had my first entry from it, which is the "First Kiss" post here, and i'm really excited to do more. So it is mandatory for me to write something from it and here I am writing my 2nd post, which is the "Frequently Asked Questions" (more commonly known as FAQs) about myself.

There are a lot of questions that were asked to me from my IFB family, my friends, and even strangers that are "somehow" interested in my life, and my blog. So here are the top 10 questions that I get a lot from you guys:

1. What is your full and real name and why are you not using your full name?
- I use my real name, which is "Karla Galima", but my full name is, "Ma. Karla Beatriz O. Galima". As you can see, I have a really really long name, (and I suffer from it during my middle school days), so I didn't want to use it, rather I would use one of my nickname so that it will be easier to remember.

2. Are you single? If not, who is the lucky guy? How did you meet?(I get this question a lot)
- Hahaha. I'm not single, (I'm sorry.☺) I am in a relationship for more than 4 years now and i'm very blessed to have him in my life. His name is Christian Quadra, we met (well, technically) during senior year of high school BUT i am acquainted with him when we were first year high school. I first saw him, getting bullied by so called "friend" of mine but we really came to know each other during senior year.

3. So how did you two started going out? Please don't spare the details. *with matching blinky-blinking eyes, you know who you are! haha*
(Grabe ha! HAHA) (But I had to, madami nagtatanong sa akin neto) (expect a loooong paragraph)
It is quite funny actually. It was in our senior year. Officially, it all started with me,  both single at that time, commenting in his picture holding a "red horse" (the big one, I think it was called mucho), saying that he should give me one of that and he replied yes to me ofcourse. We had a quite crazy relationship ended almost at the same time, mine was in November while his was in December. But I think it really started with that comment. After New Year (of 2009), our good friend, Peter, became our saint when he introduced me to him, vice versa. We became good friends for a month, I get to know more a lot about him than I did when we were in first year HS. Uhm, February came and I was surprised by the revelation I got together with a bouquet. Ofcourse, there was a letter telling me that he love me, and he's not afraid to show it to the world. He even told me that, and I quote,"... kapag naiisip kita nagaganahan ako..." (I became inspired when I think of you) which really set my heart on the fire. So, he courted me for four weeks, and then finally, on March 6, 35 days before our High School Graduation, I finally said yes to the relationship.... and they lived happily ever after! ♥
Hashtag, ang haba noh?

4. Is this your first blog?
- No actually, my first blog was the Sweet Serenity, which I had for four years but I'm not really keen into writing stuffs at that time because I focus myself with college and such. I also have a fashion blog with one of my college bestfriend, Ara. It is called Koreanese Dolls. We ended the blog when we graduated from college and we went in separate ways/blogs, which is this blog and her blog.

5. What was your first inspiration to do a blog?
- My first encounter with a fashion blog was when I saw Andy Torres' StyleScrapbook. She was my first inspiration and I'm an avid fan ever since.

6. So what do you do in life?
- I'm a fresh grad from Miriam College, with a degree of Bachelor of Arts in Communication. I'm unemployed at the moment but I do part time job just for the sake of doing something. I only have until November of this year to decide if I should study for my Masters Degree or if I should have a job. I'm not rushing things yet, i'm still enjoying the bum life, and still enjoying the moment with him before he (my boyfriend) enters Law School.

7. Aside from blogging, what do you like to do most?
- I can sing, not that good but not that bad either. I have a soundcloud account that you can check on the sidebar. I have a background on ballroom and jazz dance. I also have a background on musical theater, kind of a Broadway type, and I really like to eat! Explaining the body I have now. ;)

8. What was the first impressions on you?
- It's not always the same, some thought that i'm a bit snobbish but I guess i'm under the weather at that time. The other first impression of me that I liked was that I'm very approachable and friendly, and fun to be with. I dunno, depends on the mood that i'm in. ;)

9. Do you think you would run this blog for a long time?
- I hope so, as a matter of fact, I am in a midst of looking for sponsors for my first giveaway. As of this moment, I have things that I bought from online stores before that are not my size, therefore I didn't get the chance to wear it so I asked them if I could just put those clothes as a giveaway for my readers, for starters. And I 'm also waiting for the collaboration from other online stores which would fit to my fellow "plus size" readers as well. Hopefully, by December I would have my first giveaway ever! :)

10. You're a plus size, a very unlikely combo for a fashion blogging, what can you say about that? Who do you look up to?
- I started this blog to help my fellow "plus size" women to help them understand that no matter what size you are, you just have to be confident, and feel good about yourself. I want them learn how to accept the body that we are in. I've had a fair share of being skinny back in the times, and I felt awful. Now, being healthy and such, I feel empowered and confident. I want them to realize this, that we are capable of dressing up, feel very sexy and confident with our body. I'm really fond of my fellow Pinay Bloggers, who are also a 'Plus Size". The Plum Pinay is my confidant, and my inspiration. The twins are wonderful and inspiring to us many plus sizes women. Do check them out!

11. What are the three things that inspires you the most?
- Aside from the Plum Pinay, I did became inspired by Miranda Kerr's book called "Treasure Yourself" even though there are a lot of negative reviews from it. It really depends on the people, on how they would reflect the book, but I did go to the bright side of this self-improvement book and I hope you'd do the same thing. Another thing was, my Verbum Dei family. I started few months ago, and it really helped me to have a strong relationship with God, which helped me love myself a little bit more. Lastly, my man inspires me the most, because of his love, understanding, loyalty and support that gives me courage in everyday living.

And that's it! I know it is quite long, i'm sorry for that but I just had to. (You know I just had to). Anyway, Hello October! It' my birth month! I'm excited (not). Haha! Hoping for a wonderful days to come!

Keep safe!

It's been a while but i'm back now! Been a bummer because of the storm but hey! Nothing's gonna stop us now, right?
Although, I do really need a photographer friend (because someone is too lazy to take my pictures *sulky face*) with me all the time (well everytime I go out)
So lo and behold, I wanted to wear this skirt for a long time, but I don't have the guts for it because, well because I am fat ( I know.. I know...) and I have a short legs *sobs*. But I let it go anyway so here you gooo. =)

My First Kiss?

First of all, this is not an outfit post. I wanted to write some stuffs here as well, you know to practice writing and all. Hahaha, mind my bad english if every there's a grammar nazi out there who is reading this now.

This morning, I stumbled upon fatmumslim's blog to get the September challenge for her photo a day on instagram. I saw it right away, but then I had the urge to look at this particular blogpost she did, and it was about 50 things to blog about. After reading it, I wanted to do maybe some of it and I wanted to start rightaway. So here I go with number 13: Your First Love/Kiss, and don't skip the awkward details.

My first love is different one to my first kiss. The kiss went on the later part of the story. So I was in 6th grade, when I had my first boyfriend. In the Philippines, 6th grade is the last grade (in my times) before you enter highschool (or junior high for that matter). His name is Oliver, and back then, we were just little cute chubby kids who were crazy enough to have a relationship. At first I thought it was a puppy love, but as I realized,  it was the foundation of me for having a relationship towards opposite sex. It was a good foundation, because was we had was good, for that age. We were just best friends, without any intimacy (since we didn't know what intimacy is all about at that time) and we were just having the time of our lives.  To tell you the truth, I am not quite sure if his kiss was the first kiss. At a young age, people around me would kiss me on cheeks, even peck on lips and I don't mind it at all. If I remember it correctly, he did kissed my lips... once. I feel like it was just nothing, like a wind, swooosh. So i'm not sure if I could named it my first kiss.

On the other hand, after several relationships (including the first one), I finally had my first "real" kiss. I will spare his name just because I wanted t let a little imagination (especially to my friends) and may they wonder who it is. I was in highschool and I might say, it was... intense. It was the first time I do that so, i'd say it was sweet and somehow erotic. Details.... we do it one day after class. We make sure that there were no people on our floor, and we go to this corner classroom and we do it. Don't mistake it as sex okay? So, as the usual me, a little teacher's pet, I like to sit in the teacher's table. So as I was seating on the table, he then locked the door, and stride towards me. And then suddenly, he wanted to kiss me. At that moment, I was in a nerve-racking nirvana feeling, but then I let it go and I let him kiss me. Mind you, that kiss was not the typical smack kiss, it was full on with tongue kiss. So imagine, getting that for the first time... heaven right? ;)
So yeah, it was my first kiss, but lately, I really don't appreciated it a lot mainly because that guy was a jerk and the relationship became dull and bad. meh.

Now let us take back to the present, where I get to be kissed everyday by my loving boyfriend of 4 years and counting. It was/is the best kisses I've ever had, and I wanted to do this everyday for the rest of my life, but of course with him and only him! ♥

So yeah, here's to my first of the fifty things to blog about! ♥
